POST: Senior Pharmacy Support Worker

An exciting opportunity has arisen within our friendly department for an enthusiastic and motivated Senior Pharmacy Support Worker to join our strong team, delivering a high-quality service to our patients.
It is essential that you have or are working towards or willing to work towards NVQ L2
Join us and you will gain experience in secure environment dispensaries; carrying out various duties which are essential for the smooth running of the department. These duties include undertaking general dispensary duties; maintaining good stock levels in the Pharmacy; participating in ward top-up services, counselling patients on medication and acting as an authorised witness (2nd check) for administration of controlled drug medications.
Main duties of the job
>To facilitate continuity of care, ensuring efficient medicines management service, effective stock control of medicines within the prison and following appropriate training and competency assessment; carry out specific tasks delegated by registered technicians and/or pharmacists.
> Support wider healthcare to deliver wing-based services, including being an authorised witness in the administration of controlled medication (2nd check)
>To facilitate timely delivery of medication to wing locations multiple times per day
>To report and communicate effectively with the Pharmacy team
>All work will be undertaken under the indirect supervision of a qualified pharmacy technician or pharmacist.
>To develop and maintain communication with patients, prison staff and other healthcare professionals, at an appropriate level, ensuring confidentiality and dignity is maintained at all times.
>To attend team meetings, read team and organisation communications and attend education/training sessions.
>To give appropriate information and support to patients regarding medication.
>Assemble prescription medication when required under direct supervision of a qualified pharmacy technician or pharmacist
>Re-stock dispensary shelves and replace items at the end of the day observing expiry dates and the correct rotation of stock
>To support adherence to prison formulary, promoting cost effective use of medicines.
