Band 5 Operational Support Manager - FTB

Job summary

The post holder will work within the Mental Health Division of BWC and will lead on pieces of work that support clinical pathways within Forward Thinking Birmingham. The post will hold operational management responsibility for a portfolio of defined services and will be working with relevant clinical leads within these service areas. The post will cover services that are delivered city wide. Location to be discussed with line manager.

Main duties of the job

  • To provide operational support to the Management Team in meeting Divisional objectives.
  • The post will specifically support the Operational Manager and Service Manager to ensure that quality, activity and financial targets are met.
  • The post-holder will be expected to undertake a wide range of operational duties.
  • Line manages the administrative leads and ensures that efficient working practices and standards are in place, and that standard operating procedures are developed and maintained.
  • Validating waiting lists and supporting administrative training.
  • Problem solve any issues which arise on a day-to-day basis in the service regarding clinics, waiting lists, PALS, or other operational problems.
  • Assist in the management of projects.
  • Investigate informal complaints and incidents in line with the Trust policy as required.
  • Communicate effectively
  • Working with clinicians, mental health practitioners, administrators and operational staff to manage the waiting lists effectively.
  • Support with preparation and writing up of service meeting reports and actions.
  • Undertake risk reviews and populate risk registers, as appropriate.
  • Ensure the Operational Manager and Service Manager are kept updated on issues that could affect service performance.
  • Be actively involved in non-clinical risk audit arrangements, deputising for the Operational Manager, if required.
  • Ensure data that captures KPI's, and any commissioning audits is tracked and managed meticulously.
