Job summary
An exciting 12-month secondment/fixed term Clinical Team Manager opportunity has arisen at Birmingham & Solihull Mental Health Foundation Trust (BSMHFT) in the field of offender health. This opportunity is to drive and provide clinical management and support to the prison mental health teams, based at HMP Birmingham
As a member of the senior management team the role will take a clinical leadership role in advising, developing and ensuring the delivery of high-quality services across the 24hr healthcare and a Community Mental health Team and support the Service Manager in developing the teams and service to meet the prison population needs.
In addition, the post holder will play a lead role in the development and delivery of clinical services for prison mental health, which are recovery focussed and support individuals from a diverse background.
We have expanded the prison mental health service with focused pathways on Primary assessment and interventions, Secondary mental health, Trauma, Personality Disorder, Dementia care and Learning Disability & Autism and have built a skilled workforce that can meet the variety and challenge that working in a custodial setting brings.
You will be required to supervise staff within the mental health teams, deliver and participate in education and research activity, and be responsible for the clinical standards and delivery of these services.
Main duties of the job
The ideal candidate will have a track record in working in mental health services that are responsive to patient needs; they will have extensive experience of working across a number of specialist mental health services, which include acute and urgent care, crisis intervention and show knowledge and understanding of the pathways of secure care and offender health.
The Clinical team manager will be a visible role model leading with a desire to influence other mental health professionals and colleagues across the wider prison healthcare teams. This may be through evidence-informed high quality clinical care, partnership working with colleagues, delivering and shaping therapeutic interventions and training.
You will be an energetic and forward thinking leader, with a passion for mental health nursing and enjoy being visible and engaged in working collaboratively. You will have the passion and drive to further develop as a leader and to develop mental health and learning disability nurses within the profession.
