Band 3 OT Assistant - The Barberry

Job summary

A rare and exciting opportunity has arisen for a full time Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) position in the highly specialised inpatient eating disorder service based at the Barberry [Cilantro].

The individual will work alongside the qualified occupational therapist in facilitating group and 1-1 sessions. Hours would predominantly be 8.30 -4.30 Monday to Friday but with some occasional requirement to work flexibly either on the weekend or evening to support activity provision.

Working as a key member of the team you will work closely with the ward Occupational Therapist to deliver the OT service which will include delivery of OT assessments and interventions which may be in the format of group or 1-1 work.

You will work with the therapy team in delivering or co-facilitating elements of the group programme this will include meaningful activity to promote the health, wellbeing and functional abilities of patients on the ward, as part of their overall multidisciplinary care plan. You will demonstrate adherence to the Trust Values and operating as a member of the team, service, and organisation.

The role will require working on the unit and with individuals' accessing local community resources which supports the use of activity to aid recovery and enable a timely and sustained discharge. It is important that you can work dynamically and be able to think of creative and new ideas and demonstrate enthusiasm for working in this very specialised area.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be responsible under the direction of the qualified OT in the provision of elements of the OT process including assessments and interventions.

Other core duties include planning, preparing and facilitating elements of the therapeutic group programme this will also be under the direction of the OT and therapy team
