Be part of the movement to improve and deliver neurodevelopmental and mental health services for young people in the city of Birmingham.

We have an opportunity for a Band 6 Specialist Speech and Language Therapist in Forward Thinking Birmingham in our Autism Assessment Team.

We are keen to hear from speech and language therapists who are enthusiastic and creative in their approach to service delivery and committed to improving the lives of neurodiverse children and young people. There is a commitment in Birmingham to enhance service provision for this complex population, and we are excited to hear from people who want to join us on the journey to improve services.

Main duties of the job

The Autism Assessment Team offers specialist assessment, as well as pre and post Autism diagnostic input within the specialist mental health service. The post holder will be able to contribute to the ongoing development of the team that will ensure all young people accessing mental health services have access to a timely, evidence-based assessment, as well as inform post diagnostic input to ensure young people's experience is high quality and appropriate to guide their care going forwards. The post holder will have the opportunity to work alongside multi-disciplinary colleagues in mental health teams offering specialist consultation and advice to inform care planning and intervention for neurodiverse young people.

  • Degree in Speech and Language Therapy or equivalent.
  • Current registration to practice with HCPC and RCSLT.
  • Evidence of successful completion of specialist post qualification short courses related to young people with complex communication difficulties in specialist area, e.g., learning disability, autism, mental health.

KNOWLEDGE & NATURE OF EXPERIENCE
