Job summary

We are looking for 2 forward thinking, enthusiastic and self-motivated Senior Pharmacy Technicians to join the ward team as ward based medicines administration pharmacy technicians. You must be able to adapt to the needs of the service to cover the busiest drug rounds on the wards, this includes early/late/long day working patterns.You will be involved in the progression of the Medicines Administration role of Pharmacy Technicians based on psychiatric wards, working to provide patient centred care and support nursing staff.You will be a forerunner in the development of the role of Technicians, delivering medicines administration and optimisation services, expanding your experiences which could take your career to a new and varied level.Successful candidates must be a qualified ACPT and have significant experience in medicines optimisation at ward level, previous experience in medicines administration will be helpful but not essential and must have an empathy for patients suffering with mental health problems. Our patients often have complex and varied needs from our service and expanding the skill set of the care team is vital to create a holistic service for all.In this role you will be ward based with dispensary time allocated to maintain competencies. Not only will you expand your competencies but you will develop your experience in mental health pharmacy and in patient facing care for service users.

Main duties of the job

Main duties of the job include:o Participating in medicines administration roundso Completing admission activities such as medicines reconciliations, POD assessments and managing patient supply needs whilst in and out of the ward.o Supporting the discharge process to include ordering of medications, transfer of care and patient counselling and supporto Conducting patient education sessionso Participating in MDT ward reviewso Optimising EPMA use to support your work and the work of other members of the teamo Maintaining safe and secure standards for the storage of medicineso Accuracy checking and dispensary activities to ensure competencies are maintained whilst being mainly ward based.
