Band 6 Physiotherapist - Acute and Secure

Job summary
To provide an effective, high quality physiotherapy service for service-users, primarily within the adult ( 18-65 years old) inpatient services. This includes working with patients on Acute and Secure wards of BSMHFT, in order to promote optimum physical health and wellbeing. Physiotherapy service to Steps to Recovery Units, CAMHS and FCAMHS falls under the remit of the team and therefore the post-holder is expected to work in those areas, should there be a need for it. The post-holder will manage a caseload across multiple wards. Service-users may have multiple needs with a combination of physical health problems and mental health problems, dementia &/or learning disabilities.
Main duties of the job
- To manage a complex caseload of service-users referred to the Physiotherapy service, providing expert physiotherapy assessment, treatment, advice and education.
- To work with multi-disciplinary teams and carers to integrate treatment and advice into cohesive care plans ensuring individual, holistic recovery, focussing on the whole person
- To work as an autonomous practitioner providing specialist physiotherapy advice to multi-disciplinary teams and other health and social care professionals.
- To utilise knowledge and skills to plan, organise and deliver training to Physiotherapy team colleagues, students and other professional groups
- To contribute toward the planning, development and evaluation of the BSMHFT physiotherapy service.
