Addictions programme: Non-Medical Prescriber Band 7

An exciting opportunity has arisen within Solihull Integrated Addiction Service (SIAS) to recruit one Non-Medical Prescriber (NMP). SIAS is an NHS-led partnership of four agencies (BSMHFT, Aquarius, Welcome and Better Together) that provides care for both young people and adults who are experiencing problems with drugs, alcohol or gambling in the Solihull area.

In conjunction with the Consultant Psychiatrist (Dr Ed Day), junior doctors, and the existing NMP, the appointee will be expected to deliver a high-quality evidence-based service that both reduces harm and promotes and facilitates recovery. The NMP will manage a caseload of patients receiving Opioid Agonist Treatment, prescribing capacity for the drug and alcohol detoxification service, and relevant prescribing input to the physical health service. The job will provide plenty of variety.

We are looking for competent individual capable of high quality clinical practice who has the leadership capability. Experience of prescribing within substance use services would be an advantage, but if you can work using your own initiative and enjoy working as part of a multi-disciplinary team, then this may be the post for you.

Main duties of the job

In collaboration with the medical lead establish and run a prescribing service for service users within designated service. The post holder will ensure the delivery of a high-quality evidence-based service that promotes and facilitates service user recovery. The post holder will work pro actively to ensure that there are clear protocols in place to enable the effective delivery of non medical prescribing. The post holder will provide professional advice and support to other agencies and members of the multidisciplinary team as appropriate to maximise the effectiveness of the service.

You will work closely the Consultant Psychiatrist and the team leader in the development of effective systems and processes for the collection of performance outputs and outcomes in relation to non medical prescribing. You will work with colleagues to ensure that there are effective care pathways to a range of services that will enhance individual recovery, achievement of goals and re-integration. . This will be achieved by forming effective partnership links with identified partners and community organisations to enhance service user recovery journey.
