We are excited to be able to offer a full-time permanent post working across acute in-patient settings in the North Birmingham region.
Main duties of the job
The role will involve providing brief low-intensity interventions to service users, in a group and 1:1 format. This will involve using established protocols and will be under the supervision of a qualified psychologist. You will also take part in ward-based activities such as safety huddles and risk huddles and work closely with nurses, health care assistants and occupational therapists, together within the wider multi-disciplinary team. There will also opportunities to contribute to service evaluation and service development projects.
Experience of working in multidisciplinary teams and of working cross-culturally is desirable. We are also interested in applicants with previous experience of running groups and in working on inpatient wards (various specialities).

- An upper second class honours degree or higher in psychology.
- Entitlement to graduate membership of the British Psychological Society.
- Experience of work with people with mental health problems or disabilities, or other relevant problems or disabilities (e.g. learning disabilities, organic impairment).
- Under the day-to-day direction of a qualified psychologist, has ability to work independently, reliably, consistently and with initiative (seeking guidance when necessary).
Desirable
- Further post graduate training in relevant areas of professional psychology, mental health practice and/or research design and analysis.
- Experience of working in a multidisciplinary team.
- Experience of collecting research data, including questionnaire design and interviewing.
