Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and experienced administrator to provide a comprehensive medical secretarial service role to join the West Perinatal Specialist Community Mental Health Team specialist. In addition to administrative experience, the successful applicant must have the ability to communicate in a helpful and empathic manner with women and their families who contact the service.
The perinatal service operates Monday-Friday; 9.00am-5.00pm. The team provides a specialist perinatal mental health service for women living in the West Birmingham area. The team offer support to women experiencing moderate to severe mental illness during the perinatal period (through pregnancy and up to around 12 months post natal.
Main duties of the job
As service secretary you will undertake a wide range of administrative and secretarial duties including but not limited to; receiving of all correspondence and ensuring action is taken appropriately, processing clinical letters, reports from dictations and other correspondence as required by the medical team and covering calls that come into the team related to the medical team.
You will be expected to liaise with multi-disciplinary team members and other health professionals, GP's, Social workers, care coordinator, Service users, and other appropriate agencies in regards to the booking of appointments and clinics. It is essential that applicants are able to work on their own initiative, demonstrate effective organisational skills, have the ability to prioritise their workload and can process enquiries in a confidential and timely manner.
