Job summary
We have a rare and exciting opportunity to join our Pharmacy team within HMP Birmingham a category B remand prison, close to the centre of Birmingham. We support over 1200 patients including physical and mental health wings. This role would suit an experienced pharmacist that can work collaboratively within clinical teams. The expectation is you would have or willing to complete a post graduate clinical diploma and independent prescribing course which would be supported by the Trust. We offer a wide range of pharmacist led services including medicines management, clinical screening, ward rounds and clinics. We are looking for someone who is keen to realise their potential and who can make the most of the scope this post offers. This role is open to all pharmacy sectors.
The successful applicant will be able to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team; influence prescribing and be responsible for delivery of pharmacy services. You will assist in the management of drug expenditure and report on pharmacy prescribing issues. You will be actively involved in supporting, training and managing staff. You should be able to work on your own initiative and provide support to a demanding service. You would need to demonstrate good organisation and prioritisation skills. Main duties of the job
To assist in the provision of advice on pharmaceutical matters pertaining to medicines management, clinical governance, research and development, formulary expenditure and to develop/audit relevant protocols and guidelines. To ensure there is compliance with medicines legislation.
To manage the provision of dispensary services and lead the team with the dispensary manager, in providing a range of medicine supply services, ensuring compliance with legislation relating to medicines supply services, in a safe, efficient, cost effective manner on behalf of the Trust.To contribute to the day to day operational running of the pharmacy department.
To work with other healthcare professionals in the provision of a pharmaceutical service to a client group of offenders who may exhibit severe challenging behaviour and also have specific needs and difficulties.To provide specialist clinical pharmacy input by being an active member of multidisciplinary teams.To provide medicine related information to doctors, nurses and other health care professionals, as well as patients.
