Band 6 Single Point Of Access & Duty Senior Mental Health Practitioner

Job summary

We currently have an exciting opportunity within Solar to lead on the Solar Single Point of Access, responding to all new referrals received into the service, ensuring their clinical management is to the highest quality and in line with service timeframes, to ensure children and young people have a good experience of accessing Solar right from the very beginning.

We are looking for vibrant, creative staff that are just as passionate about the emotional wellbeing and mental health of children and young people as we are. We are a trauma informed service offering holistic, collaborative care with the child's voice always at the centre.

Solar is a partnership project between Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust (BSMHFT), Barnardo's and Autism West Midlands. It is a well established and nationally talked about service. We work together to provide emotional wellbeing and mental health services for children and young people in Solihull who are aged between 0-19, based on the principle of children and young people only needing to tell their story once.

Rated "good" by the CQC in January 2018, the service was peer reviewed by West Midlands Quality Review Service who said they "were impressed with the level of integration across the services - the feedback from service users and their families and carers was that the pathway was seamless between the various services."

Main duties of the job

This is an exciting opportunity to be based within a dynamic NHS service. Solar is a multi-disciplinary service which provides a rich learning environment for all staff. The post holder will provide high quality telephone triage for patients referred into Solar, providing a role in risk assessment and management, formulation of need, information gathering, and offering advice and guidance to children and young people directly and those who support them (parents/carers, family and professional support networks e.g school nurses, teachers, social workers)

The post holder will undertake comprehensive and holistic assessments over the telephone, online and face to face, and provide the duty provision to the service

The post holder will ensure the most relevant care pathway and care plan is devised and where needed provide seamless access to urgent and crisis care
