Job summary

Clinical Physiologist (Neurophysiology) Band 5

37 1/2 hours per week

There is an exciting opportunity for a suitably qualified Clinical Physiologist to join the expanding and developing department at The Barberry - Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health Trust.

These investigations provide diagnostic support to the Neuropsychiatrists in the classification of epilepsy and / or Sleep disorders.

We are looking for someone who is dedicated and enthusiastic to join our small but experienced team delivering a high quality Neurophysiology service to all services within the Trust and local services. In addition to the clinical workload the post holder will be expected to participate in maintaining departmental standards, CPD and audit as well as working closely with the service manager when required with service delivery and future service development.

The post holder is required to have a minimum of BSc in Clinical Physiology (Neurophysiology) or equivalent, specialist training (ECNE Part 1/HNC MPPM or equivalent) and RCCP / AHCS registration.

The successful candidate will be required to perform adult Routine EEGs on outpatients, on wards within the Trust and units that are off site and some in a domiciliary setting. Support will be required with the Ambulatory EEG, Video Telemetry service within the department and the Home Video Telemetry service.

The Barberry is the national centre for mental Health and Neuropsychiatry is one of the departments within the specialties service. The EEG department is one element of the wider Neuropsychiatry service. We work as an integrated team, with the Nurse Specialists and OTs, who run groups, providing a pathway for NEAD, Sleep Disorders and functional issues.

The telemetry unit is a 2 bedded suite that operates for 5 days, with continuous Nursing and HCA support.

The hospital is easily accessed by public transport with bus routes stopping near to the hospital and Birmingham University railway station is only a 15-minute walk away.
