Job summary
BSMHFT is excited to invite applications for a new Specialist Grade post within our established Dementia and Frailty services, based with the Solihull Community Mental Health Team for older adults. The post provides an opportunity for career progression for highly experienced specialty doctors.
We are looking for someone with confidence to work autonomously and with and an appreciation of the opportunities and challenges of working within culturally diverse areas of Birmingham. You will be a senior and experienced clinician, with a minimum of 12 years medical work experience of which at least 6 years will be at Specialty Doctor or equivalent level. To be successful in the role you should also have had at least one year working within old age psychiatry and evidence of CPD orientated at working with older people.
You will have full registration with the GMC and be approved, or eligible for approval, under Section 12 of the Mental Health Act.
Main duties of the job
The primary role will be to provide senior medical input to assessments and care of community patients aged 65 years and above. You will provide expertise and clinical decision making as an independent practitioner and oversee the physical health care of patients. Supported by the multidisciplinary team you will develop risk assessments and management plans to facilitate maximum empowerment of the service user and carer in informed choice of treatment interventions.
The post holder for the Solihull Community Mental Health Team for older adults will be based at the Maple Leaf Centre, 2 Maple Leaf Drive, Marston Green, Solihull, B37 7JB.
