Job summary
We are seeking an experienced clinician from the field of Learning Disabilities or Mental Health to join the s117 Aftercare and Specialist Placement Quality Team.
The right person will have an understanding of the Mental Health Act and the Mental Capacity Act and how these influence s117 aftercare.
You will lead a team of clinicians to support the funding processes, and then undertake statutory reviews and assurance visits.
You will need to be be able to manage complex clinical and operational information including around finances and package management.
You will have a keen view on quality assurance and be committed to effecting change
Main duties of the job
The post holder is part of the s117 Aftercare and Specialist Placement Quality Leadership Team and will bring relevanthigh level of knowledge, skills and experience to the team supporting the delivery of assurance regarding safe, effective, quality services for this cohort of people experiencing issues with mental health, learning disability and / or autism, often with a dual diagnosis..
Providing clinical advice at a higher specialist level and take a leadership role.
To support and undertake work aligned to the strategic developments of service quality, market engagement and contract development and monitoring including auditing. The post holder will contribute to the development of quality reporting, data analysis and strategic planning for robust safe systems of delivery.
The post holder may be required to support case management issues of complex clinical needs of patients, working in a fair and transparent manner.
The post holder may be required to undertake reviews of s117 aftercare or hospital placements, giving assurances regarding the services ability to meet the clinical needs of the individual, and the service meets quality standards.
To actively engage with colleagues working within other workstreams including, commissioning colleagues, the LDA programme agenda ( and those within commissioned services
Support and undertake supervision for a small team of clinical staff, facilitating training and development needs when required

- A valid professional qualification Eg RMN/ RNLD/HCPC / SW
- Educated to degree level in relevant subject or equivalent level of experience of working at a similar level in specialist area.
- Evidence of significant experience as a qualified Nurse/clinician within Mental Health/ Learning Disability settings.
- Knowledge and experience of the Assessment and funding processes including, s117 and Who Pays
- Experience of monitoring quality issues through the use of audit
- Demonstrated capabilities to manage own workload and make informed decisions in the absence of required information, working to tight and often changing timescales
