Job summary

The successful post holder will passionately lead the development and implementation of strategies and practical solutions that will deliver the Trust's response to the Equality Act (2010), Human Rights Act (1998), Workforce Race Equality Standard (WRES), and other relevant workforce and service equality legislation and guidance. Promoting an inclusive culture, valuing and respecting diversity.

Ensuring that Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust achieves and sustains compliance with all statutory and Department of Health guidance on Equalities and Human Rights as a minimum and sets appropriate targets for future progress.

The post holder will advise the Organisation of the direction for the provision of services, integrating the Trust's equality objectives. Ensuring that appropriate systems for performance management are designed and implemented in promoting Equality across people practices.

The post holder will lead on the ongoing development of the Equality Delivery System (EDS2) which includes both workforce and service delivery elements.

The post holder will deputise for the Head of EDI as and when required.

Main duties of the job

Provides expert strategic advice and guidance to the Trust on equality, diversity, inclusion and Human Right issues, including the development and implementation of the Trust's Inclusion Strategy. Work in partnership with operational and corporate managers, diagnosing issues and agreeing priorities for action with Executive Leads and Heads of Service through a consultancy and appreciative enquiry method of working. Support service areas in identifying and taking forward service delivery equality issues, making positive changes that enhance the employment experience through a targeted work of programme of advisory sessions throughout the Trust.

Provide managers and staff with the appropriate skills and knowledge to positively promote and embed equality, diversity and Human Rights. Help provide staff with the relevant competencies to challenge discrimination through the provision of training, written guidance and support.
