Job summary

The Housekeeper ensures standards of cleanliness, hygiene and tidiness are maintained throughout the Ward Environment to maintain Trust cleanliness standards and safety. The housekeeper should adhere to the policies of infection control which would include auditsTo support the Senior Nurse/Ward Nursing Team in the maintenance and development of housekeeping services by providing modern, professional housekeeping services on the Ward.The primary purpose of the role is to alleviate the housekeeping workload of nursing staff enabling them to focus on quality patient care.The post-holder will also proactively identify any areas of improvement and development and ensure reported to service providers, consistent with a modern, professional mental health service.

Main duties of the job

Ensure all staff and volunteers performing housekeeping functions are properly trained intechnique, quality, efficiency and safety. Ensure deliveries are checked against order forms and ensure that invoices are accurate, and toaction any discrepancies immediately. Ensure catering, cleaning and laundry supplies are stored safely and used used effectively to minimisewastage. Maintain a high standard of hygiene within the Ward and adhere to COSSH guidelines and infection control audits such as mattress and environmental audits

  • Maintain health and safety in the Ward by adhering to the Trust's policies and procedures at To co-operate with requests from the Ward staff and Service users wherever possible. Attend staff training sessions and meetings as needed. Responsible for ensuring confidentiality of patient information at all times. The post holder as an individual is required to understand their responsibility for respecting and promoting issues of equality diversity and all times.
