Job summary

OP Courage, The Veterans Mental Health and Well-being Service is a NHS mental health specialist service designed to help serving personnel due to leave the military, reservists, armed forces veterans and their families.

The Midlands Veterans Op courage is a partnership of eight specialist organisations that provide an integrated service across the whole Midlands region.The Birmingham Hub covers the west-midlands regional geographic area and works closely with Veterans to provide a military cultural sensitive service, while ensuring care delivery meets and addresses the issues of complex mental health needs, spirituality, equality diversity and rights in accordance with good practice and legislation. The service is expected to travel across the designated West Midlands geographical patch to ensure ease of access for our Veterans.

We are looking to recruit a resilient experienced Team Manager with good leadership skills, knowledge, and experience of managing staff and resources. The post-holder needs to demonstrate excellent communication and decision-making skills to ensure the team can perform all duties as required whilst meeting all key performance indicators and service requirements within the resources available. You will provide clear visible leadership and management of the Team and to actively participate in the day to day running of the service based at The Barberry Centre in Edgbaston.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will lead in the assessment planning implementation and evaluation of care across the clinical services and ensure that staff have a working knowledge of local, national policies and legislation which govern current service provision. The Opcourage service is designed to support local mental health services and liaise with our partners across the Midlands to ensure a seamless pathway for our Veterans in getting the right help and treatment that they need and helping them and their families to navigate and connect with their local mental health service.

Providing day to day visible operational managerial support to a multidisciplinary, highly skilled, motivated, and passionate psychological therapies team in the treatment pathway of OpCourage. To work closely with service manager and clinical lead and help with service evaluation and development to ensure that we are meeting key performance indicators of access, waiting times, and achieving good outcomes for our Veterans and supporting our staff and their well-being.

In case of untoward incidents, co-ordinate reporting including contact and liaise with appropriate agencies and personnel.

To lead in the management of all clinical risks in their designated area, including serious and critical incident management, periodic review and analysis of service development, service performance and service needs/overview.

To conduct and oversee audit of core activity and relevant aspects of services provided.
