Job summary

The Adult Secure Provider Collaborative, Reach Out, is formed of Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust (BSMHFT), Midlands Partnership NHS Foundation Trust (MPFT), St Andrews Health Care (STAH), Coventry and Warwickshire Partnership Trust and Black Country Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust who have devolved budgets from NHSE to commission adult secure care mental health and learning disabilities and autism provision for the population of West Midlands.

BSMHFT are the Lead Provider (LP) in the Collaborative and sub-contracts to the other four partners, manage contracts, assure the quality of services and lead the necessary reporting regionally and nationally. In order to fulfil the LP roles and responsibilities BSMHFT has established a separate commissioning division known as the Reach Out Commissioning function. The Commissioning function is responsible for:

  • Strategic planning and service development
  • Clinical oversight and quality assurance
  • Contractual, financial and informational oversight

The post holder will be part of the Commissioning function, which is responsible for the service planning and transformation, quality, performance and finance of all Reach Out providers and all patients who originate from West Midlands regardless of which provider the placement is with including those with Learning Disability and Autism.

Main duties of the job

  • To work collaboratively with experts by experience (EBE) and colleagues to value the unique contribution of lived experience to place patients/service users and carers at the heart of what we do, through models and techniques of participation
  • To support, develop and embed co-production principles across the Provider Collaborative
  • To contribute to the development and implementation of participation and experience plans
  • To support and develop the experts by experience programme within Reach Out Provider Collaborative
  • To support the Reach Out Patient Experience and Co-Production Lead in specific projects
  • To collaborate with third sector organisations to engage people into the Reach Out participation programmes and to gain experience data and insights
