Job summary

Endeavour Court in an inpatient rehabilitation High Dependency Unit, part of Steps to Recovery rehabilitation services. Endeavour Court is a 14 bedded locked ward for men who are detained under the MHA.

We are specifically seeking highly motivated band 5 nurses who have an interest in working with individuals with severe and enduring mental illnesses as part of a wider multi-disciplinary team, to help promote their recovery, with a focus on supporting individuals to achieve their recovery goals. We are keen to meet nurses with a recovery focused ethos, who are willing to commit to building and sustaining good therapeutic relationships and positive engagement with patients.

We provide additional training to our nurses to complete early warning signs and relapse prevention work with patients, as well as training in the assessment suite, which is used as part of the CPA reviews. The trust also provides positive behaviour support training to help support those individuals who may present with behaviour that challenges.

Main duties of the job

Under the supervision of the Team Leaders and Ward Manager, the post holder will be responsible for the assessment, planning and implementation and evaluation of nursing care, and will have a working knowledge of local and national policies and legislation that govern current service provision. The post holder will be responsible for identifying and contributing to the training needs of others and in the promotion of issues of equality, diversity and rights in accordance with good practice legislation. The post holder will ensure effective communication pathways exist, and that they act within the sphere or responsibility, managing themselves, the team and the clinical area in the absence of the person in charge.
