Main duties of the job
The post holder is responsible for delivering a high-quality nurse-led service to adults and children with bladder and bowel dysfunction. The Team Leader will contribute to the organisation, operational management, and evaluation of the Bladder and Bowel Service, ensuring systems are in place to secure comprehensive service delivery for the local population. They will ensure collaborative working across divisions, with General Practitioners, partner professionals, and other agencies to secure care closer to home and achieve positive outcomes for patients and their families.
The post holder will give expert clinical advice, practice clinically and autonomously, and implement care that requires specialist assessment, knowledge, and clinical skills.
The post holder will have proven leadership skills and be experienced in staff management, multi-agency working and clinical practice development.

Job responsibilities
1. Provide strong clinical and operational leadership and direction across the service to ensure the delivery of high standards of clinical practice and professional conduct in keeping with best practice evidence, CQC standards, professional codes and guidance and organisational policy and procedures.
2. Undertake clinical assessment and lead the team in delivering clinical care by providing expert knowledge and guidance.
3. Promote and embed the principles of integrated working ensuring close working relationships are achieved with acute services, community nursing services, General Practitioners, and all professional groups/partners involved in patient pathways.
4. Line management for the Specialist Nurses and Administration Manager and responsibility for the whole team.
5. Ensure systems are in place to support staff development, supervision, and effective line management.

7. Be responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation, delivery, and evaluation of care/interventions.

9. Monitor and evaluate practice standards and performance whilst proactively and constructively challenging practice that falls below the required standards.
10. To be the budget holder for the service and ensure financial balance. Escalate to senior managers, as appropriate.
11. Provide leadership to clinical team members to support effective clinical decisions, celebrating best practice, and acting on lessons learnt from incidents, complaints, and significant events.
12. Undertake audits and quality improvements, as required.
13. Responsible for the development and delivery of training programs to educate on best practice in bladder and bowel care. This includes working with hospital services, social care, and other NHS organisations.
14. Work with the contracted supplier of continence products and NHS logistics to provide a cost effective and high- quality home delivery service, working within local and national guidelines.
15. Ensure the service meets the standards of the organisations quality and assurance assessment framework.
16. Manage and monitor risks affecting the team in keeping with organisational policy/health and safety legislation.
17. Utilize prescribing skills within scope of practice and competence in keeping with current policy to ensure timely response to patient need, improve their care and ensure efficient and effective use of resources.
