Job summary
To assess, plan, implement and evaluate holistic, individualised patient care. Carry out all forms of patient care without direct supervision. To provide advice and support junior staff and learners in all aspects of delivering Safe, Personal and Effective Care.
Main duties of the job
Responsibilities will include:
Planning, delivering, evaluating and reporting of care for an allocated group of ward patients.
Demonstrate knowledge of the cardiac system & understand about conditions which affect the heart; after undertaking the necessary training.
Maintaining professional developments according to the Knowledge & Skills framework.

The Coronary Care Unit (CCU) is a 10-bedded high tech area who's patient group is largely patients with acute cardiac problems. The patients are usually monitored by cardiac monitors. The Nurse to patient ratio is at the recommended higher level to enable the staff to be more hands on with the patients; deal effectively with emergencies, and invest time in communication & education with patients.
We work closely with The Cardiac Care Ward which is 26 bedded ward is caring for inpatients following on from the Coronary Care Unit with the facility to telemetry monitor up to 8 patients.Staff would normally rotate to CCW for short spells on a rota system.
We invest in our staffs' training & Development and have a Cardiology Practice Educator who supports all new staff in addition to the Trusts 12 month Preceptorship programme.
We work closely with the Cardiac catheter lab to help deliver a comprehensive care package to the patients
One of our big priorities is maintaining Green status on our Quality Assurance Assessment Framework (QAAF) - which is all encompassing of delivering safe personal & effective care with an effective team.
