Kidney Specialist (Renal) Dietitian

Job summary

Due to a retirement, we are looking for a new band 6 Specialist Kidney Dietitian.

This is 37.5 hours post.

The post holder would be expected to manage the dietetic care for consultant led renal clinics and to provide dietetic cover to a haemodialysis satellite unit, dialysing over 100 patients per week. and therefore experience working on a dialysis unit is essential

Main duties of the job

Clinically the post holder would be expected to manage a caseload of patients with complex kidney needs - both on the dialysis unit and as outpatients as well as attending MDT treatment discussion meetings.

The post holder would be expected to clinically supervise band 5 Rotational Dietitians and students.

They would also be expected to support the Clinical Lead Dietitian to continually develop and evolve the Renal Dietetic team providing guidance, training and policies asrequired. They would also be expected to support the wider Dietetic team.

About us

The successful post holder will be part of the Renal Dietetic team. The team consists of Band 7 Clinical Lead Dietitian, band 6 Specialist Dietitian and Band 5 rotational Dietitians link with the team. The team is supported by clinical support workers.

The post holder would be primarily based at Blackburn Dialysis unit but would be expected to work across all East Lancashire Dietetic localities

TheRenalDietetic team work closely with their colleaguesat Prestonand will be an integral part of the MDTon the dialysis units

The Renal team is a part of the wider Dietetic Department. The Department has over 70 Staff of which 45 are Dietitians and is well supported with Dietetic Assistants, Assistant Practitioners and admin staff. The department uses the electronic patient record system EMIS for outpatients and Cerner for inpatients. The Renal Dietitians also have access to pathology and record systems from the Renal Hub at Preston
