Consultant Paediatrician in Emergency Medicine

Job summary

We are seeking a dedicated Consultant Paediatrician with extensive experience and specialised training in Paediatric Emergency Medicine (PEM) to join our team. The successful candidate will hold a CCT in Paediatrics and have completed PEM training, with a proven ability to manage paediatric patients in an emergency setting.

Whilst this position does not initially require GMC specialist registration in PEM, the hospital will support the successful candidate in obtaining PEM registration via the CESR pathway, if desired. This role offers an excellent opportunity for an experienced paediatric consultant with a focus on emergency care to make a significant impact within our hospital's paediatric emergency department.

You would be joining a 20 person EM Consultant Team working a 18 week rota which includes 7 twilight shifts over the 18 week rota. the rest of the shifts are of varied times to cover Paediatric ED and resus for paediatric patients.

Main duties of the job

Multidisciplinary team working is key component of the working within the Trust and involves regular MDT discussions with colleagues

Providing evidence-based care for patients in a multidisciplinary setting

Continuing responsibility for the care of patients in your charge, including all administrative duties associated with patient care (with secretarial support)

Development of sub specialty interests that fit in with Division needs and the strategic direction of the Trust

Responsibilities for carrying out teaching, examination and accreditation duties are required, and for contributing to undergraduate and post-graduate and continuing medical education activity

Provision of cover for Consultant colleagues' periods of leave in accordance with arrangements agreed within Trust policy

Participation in clinical audit and in continuing medical education

Conducting suitable duties in cases of emergencies and unforeseen circumstances

With other colleagues enable senior input into patients journey through the ED enhancing quality and Consultant 'sign off'

Enhance the reputation of the department through multi-disciplinary education & training and research
