Radiology Nurse/ODP (Interventional)

Job summary

This is an exciting opportunity to become part of a friendly multi-disciplinary team working within Interventional Radiology at East Lancashire Hospitals.

The role will involve rotation between all areas giving the applicant opportunities to develop skills in scrub, monitoring of patients, recovery and pre-op assessment.

We have recently employed an assistant practitioner to enable role development within the current team.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone to work in a diverse, busy and expanding speciality.

This is a full time position of 37.5 hours. Candidates will be expected to participate in our 24/7 interventional on-call rota which includes working some Bank Holidays.

Main duties of the job

Your main duties will be to scrub up alongside the Radiologist or monitor the patient / administer IV drugs for a variety of Interventional Radiology procedures along with pre-op assessment. You will be expected to provide high standards of patient care and deliver a patient focused service.

This is a demanding role where excellent expertise in all aspects is required to ensure the delivery of a high quality, efficient and professional service. The successful candidate will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, performing nursing duties either single handed or as part of a team, whilst ensuring a high standard of patient care is maintained at all times. Applicants will be expected to use their own initiative and be capable of making decisions in unpredictable circumstances.

About us

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Radiology Nurse / ODP to work full time within the specialised Interventional Radiology team. The successful applicants will support the Lead Radiology Nurse in Angiography.

The Interventional team is made up of 6 Radiographers, 6 Nurses, 1 Assistant Practitioner and 3 Support Workers. We are a friendly and enthusiastic team who strive to ensure patient care is safe, personal and effective and of a high standard. No 2 days in Angiography are ever the same!

There are exciting times ahead for Interventional Radiology as we have recently had our Angiography room updated with a state of the art ceiling mounted tube which is able to perform a wide variety of procedures as well as CT.

We are looking for enthusiastic nurses / ODP's who want to come and join our fabulous team and develop the service we offer at East Lancashire.

  • Mentorship Skills

  • Clear and accurate written and verbal communication. Effective listening skills.
  • Able to participate in the 24/7 shift system and work flexible hours.
  • Willing to adapt to the changing needs of the service
