Job summary
To provide a safe and secure Diabetic Retinopathy Screening Service to the entire diabetic population in the programme area, in accordance with not only National but also local programme policies and procedures, with the ultimate aim of reducing new blindness due to diabetic retinopathy in the role as Screener Grader.
Main duties of the job
- To contribute to the patient pathway through the screening & grading process, ensuring that all patients receive appropriate screening and timely follow-up appointments according to National standards & performance indicators where applicable.
- To operate in accordance with all current and future policies and procedures.
- To undertake screening, grading and administration tasks as the programme needs require, but also be flexible in your approach to the changing needs of the local programme and the wider trust.
- All Screener Graders are expected to continuously continue their personal development in order to fulfil the role and develop their career. This can be done by attending appropriate accredited courses, meetings, seminars, workshops, conferences and via on-line training sessions.
- Be committed to making patients the number one focus in order to provide the best level of care possible to the patients within the diabetic eye screening programme.
- You will be providing the face-to-face service to patients who attend on a daily basis for screening and where needed explain results and treatments.
- As a Screener Grader you're have responsibility for the day to day running of your clinics largely unsupervised in sometimes a pressurised environment to both National and local programme policies and procedures.
