Lead Pharmacy Technician Procurement and Supply

Job summary

An opportunity has arisen to join our brilliant and well-established pharmacy procurement team as the Lead Technician Procurement and Supply.

We are looking for a motivated Technician with experience in one or more areas to help shape the future of the procurement and stores service here at East Lancashire Hospital.

You will be responsible for:

  • managing the maintenance, development and delivery of procurement services in line with the national and regional MPSC (Medicine Procurement Supply Chain) contracts, standards, guidelines, local policies and procedures.
  • supervision and management of the team of technicians and assistants involved in the delivery of the pharmacy procurement and supply service.
  • representing the pharmacy department/Trust at relevant meetings both on and off site, often with external service providers and clinicians.
  • responding to enquiries from all Trust staff and service users and deal with any queries as required, often of a highly complex nature.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will:

Be approachable and helpful and communicates effectively in a professional and timely manner.

take an active role in meetings including regular regional procurement meetings, and all internal meetings, such as the senior technician meetings. Must be able to chair meetings, and record notes and actions.

ensure team members are fully briefed and provides feedback on actions and outcomes

deal with any complaints and feeds back the outcome in a timely manner. Ensure corrective measures are implemented to prevent reoccurrence.

produce and disseminate service plans and strategy to team members.

take personal responsibility to read minutes/Team Brief/Trust Bulletins and encourages this within the entire team.

develop and maintains communication with people about difficult matters or difficult situations, in an appropriate, supportive and empathic manner to achieve satisfactory outcomes.

  • liaise with the pharmacy team and ward staff regarding supply problems and take appropriate action to resolve any issues in a timely manner.

assist in the preparation, maintenance, review and management of standard operating procedures. Ensure that all relevant staff read them, either as a new staff member or when procedures are written /updated.
