Job summary
East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust is looking to recruit a Locum Consultant Histopathologist on a fixed term basis. Applicants are required to possess the FRCPath and be in a position to submit a CESR application within 12 - 24 months of appointment.
The contract will be for 10 PA per week, although applications from part-time applicants would be considered.
The successful candidate will join a team of 13 Consultant Pathologists in a modern Cellular Pathology Department at Royal Blackburn Teaching Hospital
Main duties of the job
Applicants are expected to be experienced in all aspects of histopathology and non-gynae cytology and there are opportunities to develop special interests although experience in urology, colorectal and skin pathology would be more beneficial to the post.
Applicants are required to possess the FRCPath (or equivalent qualification) and have CCT or be within 6 months of obtaining this.

We are a national screening unit for Bowel cancer screening patients. The Department is recognised for 4 Cellular pathology STs and in addition supported by 2 Senior Clinical Fellows. We are also implementing digital pathology within the department.
Our Hospital is situated close to the motorway networks and at close proximity to beautiful countryside of Ribble Valley and the Lake District and is 40 minutes away from Manchester.

ATTAINMENTS
Essential
- Educational Qualifications - Full and specialist registration (and a licence to practise) with the General Medical Council (GMC) (or eligible for registration within six months of interview)
- Professional/Occupational Qualifications - Applicants that are UK trained, must ALSO be a Holder of Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT), or be within six months of award of CCT by date of interview
- Professional/Occupational Qualifications - Applicants that are non-UK trained, will be required to show evidence of equivalence to the UK CCT
