Applications are invited for a Specialty Doctor in Community Neurodevelopmental Paediatrics.
The post represents an exciting opportunity to join our friendly, supportive and enthusiastic team within East Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, working collaboratively within a large, multidisciplinary Community Neurodevelopmental Paediatric dedicated service.
The post will be office based in Rainbows Centre, Burnley General Teaching Hospital, working in hospital and community-based outpatient settings across the trust footprint. Flexible working from home arrangements are possible for non-patient facing work activities.
Main duties of the job
The postholder would be working closely as part of the Multidisciplinary Team which consists of Paediatricians, Advanced Paediatric Clinical Practitioners, Specialist Nurses, Neurodevelopmental Practitioners, Psychologists, Speech and Language Therapists and Child Development Centre Team. Full training and supervision will be provided. There is an active continuing professional educational program and audit and quality improvement within the service.
There is no Acute Paediatric on call commitment associated with this post.

- Knowledge of medical training & evidence of competence in relevant procedures.
- Knowledge of education & training issues from completion of UK based Medical degree or a minimum of 12 months previous NHS experience
- Good communication skills with ability to motivate colleagues - both medical & non-medica
- Ability to work in a team
- Demonstrates professionalism in attitude & application
Desirable
- Awareness of national agenda in relation to Children in Care and Community Neurodevelopmental Paediatrics
- Involvement in management & administration

QUALIFICATIONS
Essential
- MBBS or equivalent
- Full GMC Registration & Licence to Practice
- Completed at least 4 years full-time postgrad training (or equivalent if part-time) at least 2 of which will be in a specialty training programme or equivalent experience and competencies
Desirable
- Full MRCPH qualification or success in at least 2 out of 3 MRCPCH written papers
- APLS or EPLS trained
- Experience and / or qualifications in other clinically related fields (eg O+G / General Practice)
- Training in advanced communication skills or motivational interviewing.
TRAINING
Essential
- Experience & training in Child Protection to Level 3 standards or be able to demonstrate this before taking up the post
- Willingness to undertake further training and qualifications as required
Desirable
- PG Cert in medical education or equivalent
- Teaching, Learning & Assessment training
EXPERIENCE

- Practical experience in management of a wide range of conditions in Paediatrics, Neonatal medicine & Child Protection
- Proven ability to utilise IT as administrative tool
- Experience of working with staff from different professional backgrounds
- Understanding of & performing audit - evidence of experience during general professional training

- Research experience
- Experience of management of children in Care and / or with neurodevelopmental conditions
