An opportunity has arisen to join our brilliant and well-established Clinical Homecare Pharmacy team as a Specialist Homecare Pharmacist.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and dynamic Pharmacist to help shape the future of the homecare and clinical pharmacy service here at East Lancashire Hospital.
You will be responsible for supporting the development of the Homecare Pharmacy Service, providing advice to homecare service users on the use of the service.
The role will allow you to work in the field of clinical pharmacy, becoming a subject matter expert, with support from experts, across clinical specialities based on interest and departmental need. You will provide advise on treatment pathways to facilitate access to high-cost drug treatments and use of biosimilar medicines.

Main duties of the job
The post holder will:
- Be a member of the homecare team, which provides a high-quality service to the Trust.
- Support the implementation of biosimilar medicines, making the best use of NHS resources and ensuring that high standards of governance are maintained
- Contribute to management of specialist conditions and assist with co-ordinating use of biologics across specialist teams
- Undertake an active role in treatment decisions in multi-disciplinary team meetings
- Support the management of staff within the Pharmacy Homecare Service to ensure the effective operation of the service
- Liaise with the specialist nurses to ensure the homecare service is managed in line with homecare quality standards and NICE Technology Appraisals
- Co-ordinate with external homecare teams to implement new homecare services, review service level agreements and be involved in the renegotiation of service level agreements for medicines with local hospitals and other providers
- Support the investigation of incidents and complaints in Pharmacy and with other service users and link these to Risk Management systems
- Ensure compliance with the current Royal Pharmaceutical Society standards for Homecare and contribute to the annual RPS Homecare audit
