Job responsibilities
MAIN DUTIES:
- Provide a high standard of patient care using an evidence based framework and work within East Lancashire Hospital Trust policies and standards
- To provide skilled nursing care of a set standard in the treatment room setting
- Ensure confidentiality at all times
- To perform a high level of clinical skills e.g. Wound care, Leg Ulcer Management.
- Liaise with nursing and non nursing colleagues to create good working relationships for the benefit of patients
- Be involved with health promotion and in the prevention of ill health of patients
- Liaise directly with specialist Lower Leg Nurse/Tissue Viability regarding problem cases
- Document and maintain records professionally and accurately
COMMUNICATION:
- To ensure effective communication, verbal and written with all professional colleagues
- Overcome barriers to communication e.g. Challenging behaviours, hostility/anxiety
TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT:
- Ensure compliance with all core mandatory training and Revalidation requirements, maintaining records of training and development undertaken
- Participate in the development of students and new members of staff through involvement in training, education and development
- Be required to participate in the organisation and implementation of health promotion events
ORGANISATIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ensure patients records are maintained and that documentation reflects the care provided
- Ensure compliance with policies, procedures and clinical guidelines for self and others
- Promote peoples equality, diversity and rights
- Provide response to patients complaints
- Continually monitor standards of care and assist in the improvement of care, participate in benchmarking, audit and research
- Comply with policy and procedure in data collection and reporting
PROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintain active status on NMC register
- Act always in accordance with the NMC Code of Professional Conduct and other guiding documents
- Maintain up to date skills and knowledge and an awareness and understanding of professional issues
- Maintain professional portfolio and revalidation requirements.

Experience
- Min. 6 months post registration
- Previous Treatment room, Surgical, ED or Community Nurse Experience.
