Job summary

*Previous application need not apply*An excellent opportunity has arisen for a motivated, flexible dynamic Sister/Charge nurse, to work within the General outpatient department at ELHT.

The Sister/ Charge Nurse will be responsible for the operational delivery of the Outpatient services under the guidance of the Outpatient Lead Nurse We are looking for a motivated team player to take up the role to act as a clinical lead on a shift by shift basis.

Main duties of the job

Support the lead nurse to manage and support the outpatient department teams, and deal with the day to day running of the department and act as a clinical lead on each shift.The Sister/ Charge Nurse will support the nursing team to set and deliver clinical standards for quality patient outcomes monitoring clinical effectiveness and undertaking audit programs, implementing action plans if required. Ensuring clear lines of governance are in place and the delivery of the patient safety agenda is evident.

The Sister/ Charge Nurse will be involved in the HR management of the nursing team taking responsibility for sickness absence reporting and management, performance management working within Trust guidance. The role will involve ensuring key Trust and Directorate data is up to date demonstrating a well led and effective department.

About us

Centralised Outpatients services are delivered across 6 hospital sites ( RBTH, BGTH, PCH,CCH,AVH & Ross PHCC) This post may involve cross site working to provide cover as required.

Job responsibilities

Outpatient Sister/ Charge Nurse , Covering many specialties .

The post holder will be a clearly identifiable senior clinical and managerial staff member, and team leader. They will have significant experience and be responsible for delivering care in all areas of Outpatients providing clinical knowledge and expertise to their team, whilst coordinating and delivering high quality care. They will be a role model and lead on specific projects / management functions as delegated by the Lead Nurse . They will uphold the identified Trust values at all times.

Clinical Responsibilities

Wound care and advice including suture removal.

Administering medications including injections.

Maintaining good time management and personal organisation.

Providing cover for colleagues in all clinical areas as required.

Leadership and Management

Manage the day to day staffing arrangements and rotas, to ensure safe levels of practice.

Be a shift co-ordinator on a regular basis where appropriate, ensuring high standards are delivered to all patients attending the Outpatinet services.Ensure all staff are aware of and adhere to all trust Protocols of care

Ensuring a kind compassionate environment for all staff and patients ensuring civility is expected.
