Job summary

We are looking for band 6 nurses to join the team on the Acute Medical Ward B6. You will work alongside the Ward Manager and Practice Educators to develop a service, providing high quality care.

As a Junior Sister / Charge Nurse you will work alongside a multi-disciplinary team to ensure Safe, Personal and Effective care is delivered to all patients.

Main duties of the job

We require an enthusiastic individuals with a can do attitude that has the ability to work within our team.

Candidates must have the initiative to adapt to the changing demands of the service and be able to contribute to the development of service provision. They will need to be experienced in mentoring student nurses, holding a relevant mentorship and/or teaching qualification and be supportive of junior members of the team, and have relevant experience at Band 5 enabling them to be confident to lead the team in a shift co-ordinator role. Ability to cover the department and provide reasonable flexibility in terms of hours worked, including varying shift patterns across days and nights will be expected.

To deliver SAFE, PERSONAL and EFFECTIVE patient care on a daily basis. You should be an expert in all areas of nursing care from patients admission to discharge, which facilitates clinical practice development. You will actively support the ward manager, ensuring the effectiverunning of the unit in their absence. You will provide daily clinical and managerial leadership to nursing and support staff in the delivery of evidence based patient centred care.

This will be of a high standard. You are responsible for ensuring all care is delivered according to Trust policies and procedures. Utilising clinical audit, research, supervision of practice and teaching, they will monitor and improve standards of care by efficient and effective use of resources.

  • Current NMC registration essential
  • Able to deliver a high standard of Evidence based individual patient care
  • Delivers nursing care in line with Trust policies and protocols

Desirable

  • Computer literacy
  • Post basic qualification in specialty
