A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an experienced, motivated and reliable individual on our Cardiology Ward as a Junior Sister/Charge Nurse.
Ward B18 cares for 26 Cardiac patients and work very closely with the Coronary Care Unit and Cardiac Catheter Labs.
This is an exciting time in the speciality of Cardiology with the development of a brand new Heart Care Unit due to open in the New Year. It will incorporate the Coronary Care Unit, Cardiology Ward and Cardiac Diagnosic teams.
We care for a wide range of patients with Cardiac conditions such as Myocardial Infarction, Heart Failure, Cardiac Arrhythmias, Heart valve disease, and Endocarditis. Also patients pre and post angiogram, angioplasty and devices such as Pacemakers and ICDs.
We are looking for an enthusiastic leader with a positive can do attitude who not only demonstrates line management responsibilities but someone who will act as a role model exhibiting excellent values and behaviors, inspiring others leading change and implementing best practice .
Main duties of the job
As a Cardiology Junior Sister/Charge Nurse you will be expected to be an expert in all areas of General and Cardiac Nursing Care. You will provide daily clinical and managerial leadership to our Nursing team and in the Ward Managers absence and support staff in the delivery of evidence based patient centred care.
You will be responsible for ensuring all care is delivered according to Trust policies and procedures. Utilising clinical audit, research, supervision of practice and teaching, they will monitor and improve standards of care by efficient and effective use of resources.

You will be expected to coordinate the ward on a day to day basis in the absence of the Ward Manager working alongside other MDT members facilitating safe and effective flow of patients.
You will be familiar with the role and its requirements, deputising for the Ward Manager in her absence and supporting and developing skills and knowledge of junior staff. You must be motivated and enthusiastic, able to adapt quickly to changing needs of patients and the ward, be flexible and hard-working, working autonomously as well as part of the team.
