Job summary

We have an exciting position for a Band 6 or Band 5-6 transition Occupational Therapist with a special interest of working in the field of neuro-rehabilitation to join our team.

Based at Rakehead Rehabilitation Centre, the unit specialises in neuro-rehabilitation. There is a well-established supportive multi-disciplinary team which emphasises client centred inter-disciplinary working. The service covers inpatients and community working with patients who have neurological diagnosis and acquired brain injury working across Pennine Lancs to ensure seamless transition from inpatients - community

Our integrated therapy team has a strong link with UCLAN employing an AHP Professor in neurorehabilitation; as such opportunities to get involved in research is encouraged. As a trust we are commitment to continuing professional development and you will be well supported by the senior occupational therapist and wider MDT with regular supervision, training and annual appraisals.

Main duties of the job

You'll be a HCPC registered occupational therapist with previous experience of working in stroke or neuro ready to progress into the band 6. Or a current band 5 who may have limited experience of neuro but would like to specialise in this field starting as band 5 while working through specific clinical competencies before progressing into the band 6 role.

Excellent interpersonal/ communication skills are required along with good organisation and time management skills. Flexibility in working patterns to meet the needs of the service is essential as you will be required across both the inpatient and community neuro rehab service on a rotation basis. You will be a car driver/ or have access to transport to work across East Lancs.

You will be responsible for providing clinical assessment & treatment modalities to patients with a confirmed neuro diagnosis. The role may also allow you to rotate across the stroke pathway gaining experience across inpatient and community stroke.

The integrated neuro rehabilitation team provides specialist neuro rehabilitation to adults across inpatient neuro rehab unit at Rakehead which is based at Burnley General Hospital and across East Lancashire in the Community setting. The integrated therapy team consists of a MDT team of Occupational Therapists, Speech & Language Therapists, Physiotherapists, Clinical Psychology, AHP professor in neurorehabilitation and stroke and Therapy Assistant Practitioners.

As part of the therapy service, you are required to work flexibly across both the inpatient and community neuro setting.
