Job summary
This senior clinical role within the Bladder and Bowel Team offers an exciting professional development for those experienced nurses who can demonstrate excellent communciation skills, proven experience of managing patients with complex bladder and/or bowel conditions including establishing Transanal irrigation and Clean Intermittant Self Catheterisation regimes , Non-medical prescribing, delivery of education and development of future eduactional programmes. Experience of EMIS patient electronic records system will be advantageous. There will be scope for deputising for the Clinical Lead and the post does involve the management of junior staff.
Main duties of the job
Working autonomously the post holder provides professional, managerial, educational advice and support across all areas of East Lancashire. The post holder will assess, plan, prescribe or make prescribing recommendations if not a Non -medical prescriber ,evaluate and sometimes initiate care.
They are responsible for triaging referrals ,organising own and others workload, producing excellent clinical records, referrals to other professionals including external agencies/trusts and supporting the Clinical Lead /Matron in the daily operation of the department.
Refer patients/clients to appropriate professionals as required providing timely and accurate information when referring them.Liaise with other nursing and social care professionals, General Practitioners and consultants, as required, when identifying the optimum course of action for Bladder and Bowel care.
To work independently across a multi-disciplinary team demonstrating expert nursing skillsand knowledge of Bladder and Bowel care.To receive, interpret and act on frequently complex referrals from a range of sources.To provide Bladder and Bowel assessment, treatment, management, support and advice to patients and other professionals across East Lancashire.
About us
The Bladder and Bowel team is a small specialist team based at Accrington Victoria Community Hospital. It treats children and adults and receives very postive patient feedback. The clinicians are supported by a dedicated administration team and the service holds the responsibility for the provision of all continence containment products across East Lancashire. The service operates Monday to Friday from 08:00- 18:00 and will consider flexible working.
