Job summary
Following a successful bid for additional funding to further raise the profile of fetal monitoring within ELHT, an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic, motivated and committed midwife with strong clinical leadership and facilitation skills has arisen. The successful applicant will work 15 hours per week (0.4WTE), with our existing Fetal Monitoring Lead continuing in post working 22.5 hours per week (0.6WTE).
Main duties of the job
The Fetal Monitoring Leads will continue to improve the standard of risk assessment and fetal monitoring in line with element 4 of the Saving Babies' Lives 3 Care Bundle. The Fetal Monitoring Leads will be part of the Maternity Training Team and will work closely with all members of the multidisciplinary team to ensure that care provided to women and their babies is both safe and effective.
Education and training is a fundamental element of this post and the role will include creating learning opportunities, maintaining communication between multidisciplinary teams, developing collaborative relationships and delivering set objectives. The successful applicant will be a highly visible champion providing professional leadership for safe and effective fetal heart rate interpretation through demonstration of expert clinical knowledge and practice with maternity staff and obstetricians. The culture of continuous learning associated with measurement for improvement will provide assurance that all staff undertaking fetal monitoring are competent to provide safe care.
