At Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust (BHT) we are investing in our Acute Medical workforce and are therefore looking to recruit a Consultant into our team. We have a newly refurbished Acute Receiving Unit (ARU) and have implemented a model of care with our frailty colleagues.
Main duties of the job
We are expanding our Acute Medicine workforce based at Stoke Mandeville Hospital in Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire, covering medical on call duties, ARU, EMRU and SDEC with close liaison with other medical and surgical specialties as well as the Emergency department and allied HCP's. We strongly encourage people to develop sub speciality interest according to the needs of the department and we will support the individual in achieving that.

Our service is comprised of an Acute Receiving Unit (ARU) with 18 spaces, a 21-bedded ward and Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC) unit. Acute Medicine is a within the Integrated Medicine Care Group, working closely with colleagues in Emergency and Specialty medicine.

Essential
- oMB, BS or equivalent GMC registered qualifications
- oCCST/ CCT in Acute or General Internal Medicine, OR Registration on GMC Specialist Register in Acute or General Internal Medicine OR within six months of achieving CCST\CCT at the time of interview
- oCCST\CCT in desired additional specialty
- oHigh Quality skills in general and acute medicine and ability to manage medical takes
Experience
Essential
- oGeneral training in Acute Medicine or General Internal Medicine to specialist level or equivalent
- oResearch experience\publications
- o3 years WTE minimum at SpR level in GIM\Acute Medicine higher speciality training
- oAbility to make decisions at consultant level
