Job summary
In this role you will be part of the team responsible for providing the Trust's MaternitySpecialistInfant Feeding service. You will support families with infant feeding with the specialist team. This could be within thespecialistinfant feeding clinic, groupdrop insupport, parenteducationor support on the ward. The team currently work Monday-Friday.You'll work with the team to enhance service provision inalignmentwith UNICEF Baby FriendlyInitiative(BFI) standards, supporting the BFIaccreditationjourney. You will contribute to serviceevaluationandchange management tocontinuallyimprove the service.You'llassistin the provision of training,guidelinesand othertoolstosupportstaff knowledge andskillsinorder tofacilitatean excellent service.
Main duties of the job

Know and workin accordance withthe BFI standards, acting as an example of good practice and supporting others to do the same.

Have a robust knowledge of protocols,policiesand procedures, particularly in relation to infant feeding. Be able to support staff to understand the associated evidence and background behind guidance and its rationale.

Triage referrals to the service and organise effective support.

Provide intensivespecialistinfantfeedingsupport to families throughout the perinatal period across both inpatient andoutpatientmaternitysettings.

Be open to becoming a tongue tiepractitioner

Demonstratethe ability topubliclyassess and devisesafeandappropriateplansof care for families with complex feedingchallengesand work with the MDT topracticesafely,advocate for families and protectbreastfeeding.

Takeon difficult conversations anddemonstrateexcellentcommunicationskills.

Educate staffregardinginfant feeding, supporting PROMPT, Clinical Update Day and the Breastfeeding and Building Relationship workshop.

Support parent education.
