Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a band 6 midwife to join our Antenatal and Newborn Screening Team. We are a small, friendly team dedicated to providing supportive, compassionate care to women who may be facing difficult decisions regarding their pregnancy and screening results.

The role involves assisting in coordinating the antenatal screening and newborn bloodspot programme, counselling expectant parents on their screening choices and options following an unexpected result. You will be required to work as part of the multidisciplinary team, liaising with external agencies such as sexual health services, external screening labs, other hospital trust screening teams and NHS England.

The successful applicant will be an experienced band 6 midwife motivated, compassionate and supportive of womens' choices with strong attention to detail and a passion for providing high quality care. This is a great opportunity for a new challenge and to expand your skills and knowledge in a varied and interesting role.

  • Excellent theoretical and practical knowledge of Midwifery
  • Knowledge of responsibilities under the Health and Safety Act 1974

  • Knowledge of antenatal and newborn national screening programmes and their use in practice

  • IT literate on Microsoft Office and Excel
