Pharmacy Procurement & Distribution Manager (Band 5 to 6 progression)

Job summary

This is a developmental role designed to support the progression from Band 5 Higher Level Pharmacy Technician to a Band 6 Procurement and Distribution Manager within 6-12 months after gaining the necessary experience.

The postholder will initially work under supervision to develop the necessary leadership, operational, and governance skills to manage the day-to-day running of the Procurement and distribution service and staff.

Upon completion of the agreed competency framework, and a successful review, the postholder will progress to a Band 6 Procurement and Distribution Manager role, taking on full operational management responsibility for the team and service delivery.

They will assist the Procurement and Distribution (P&D) Team Leader in providing a safe, high quality patient centred Procurement and Distribution services (P&D). This includes all aspects of medicine storage, including medical gases, aligned with the guidance document "Rules and Guidance for Pharmaceutical Distributors" and the Trust's Wholesale Distribution Authorisation (for medicines for human use) aka WDA(H).

  • First line management training or a management Qualification.
