Job summary
We are looking for an enthusiastic and innovativeclinicalpsychologist with excellent clinical, leadership and management skills who is keen to lead the paediatric psychologists in the BuckinghamshireHealthcareTrust. Thepaediatric team is small enough for us to know and support each otherand share projects across specialities but big enough to be a force within the Trust.
Our paediatric psychology input is aligned to the heath specialities of diabetes, burns, cystic fibrosis, community neurodevelopment, spinal cord injury,neonatesand long covid.
An important part of this role is to continue to drive energy towards developingmore psychological resource using traditional service developmentand thinking of innovative methods to spread psychological mindedness across our paediatric colleagues. The current focus is on developing psychological input to epilepsy, functional neurologicaldisorder and general paediatrics. Your voice will be important in helping the Trust understand the need for and models of paediatric psychology.
We are highly respected by our MDT colleagues and hospital management. The paediatricpsychologists are part of a larger team of clinical health psychological professions, led by the Chief Psychological Professions Officer with whom you will work closely.
Main duties of the job
A main part of the role will be to continue the previous postholder's work and further increase the profile and understanding of the need for paediatric clinical psychology and to drive service development.
You willline manage andprovideclinicalsupervision to 8b paediatric clinical psychologists,and specialist supervision tothe clinical psychologists workingin paediatrics as part of a lifespan role to ensure that a model of child centred work is upheld.In addition, you willconsultinto and supervise an assistant psychologist working in the long covid service.
You will lead regular paediatric psychology meetings for all paediatric clinical psychologists, clinical psychologytraineesand assistant psychologists with the aim ofmaintainingcohesion, sharing skills, updates and overlapping interests to enable the children and young people in our care receive holistic, high quality psychological care.

Essential
- Post-graduate doctoral level training in clinical psychology (or its equivalent for those trained prior to 1996 and those who trained abroad) as accredited by the BPS, or with a statement of equivalence from the BPS
- Evidence of continuing professional development as recommended by the British Psychological Society and HCPC
- Post-doctoral training in a therapeutic model
- Formal training in supervision of other psychologists

EXPERIENCE
Essential
- Supervised experience of working with a wide variety of client groups across the lifespan and presenting with a wide range of clinical severity across a wide range of care settings, including outpatient, inpatient, community and residential care settings.
- Experience of individual and group psychological interventions with C&YP with both acute and long term physical health problems.
- Experience of leading and/or influencing across systems/partners including primary care
- Experience of working as the senior psychologist in a C&YP clinical pathway, including reviewing and improving the psychological service.
- Experience of collaborating with related health, social and voluntary services which may be required for patient care.
- Experience of managing resources and allocating these strategically to meet the various demands on/needs of the service
