Job summary

The Bucks Oncology Unit provides a comprehensive service of tumour specific outpatient clinics lead by consultants and supported by tumour specific CNSs, tumour specific multidisciplinary team meetings, systemic anti-cancer treatment and blood product delivery and other complementary and supportive services. Outpatient clinics are held in Stoke Mandeville Hospital and Wycombe Hospital. Systemic anti-cancer treatment (SACT) is delivered in the Cancer Care and Haematology Unit in Stoke Mandeville Hospital and the Sunrise Unit in Wycombe Hospital.

Main duties of the job

The post holder is expected to provide a comprehensive oncology service at Stoke Mandeville Hospital, with possible cross site working at Wycombe Hospital, participating in clinics, MDT meetings and contributing to the Acute Oncology Service, through AOS consultant ward rounds. Job description

Job responsibilities

The post-holder will participate in clinical governance activities including clinical audit, risk management and quality improvement activities as required by the Trust and external accrediting bodies.

Annual appraisal and job plan review will be essential for the successful candidate. 1.5 SPAs will be allocated for activities (e.g. CPD) required for revalidation.

The consultant will provide continuing responsibility for patients in their charge and in partnership with colleagues working for the proper function of the department.

The post holder may be required to undertake other duties appropriate for a consultant oncologist not otherwise specified.
