Job summary
Our unique, integrated Nutrition and Dietetic Service is searching for a Dietitian to focus on nutrition support in frailty and the medicines for older people (MFOP) pathway,to join a team at Buckinghamshire Healthcare Trust, which also hosts the National Spinal Injuries Centre and the regional Burns Centre. We are a 'great, friendly team' and offer excellent opportunities for learning and support through clinical supervision, peer learning and CPD opportunities including supporting B & C student placements. We are very supportive, valuing our staff, and actively promote staff wellbeing, inclusivity and equality.
Our team consists of over 40 members of staff based at 4 locations across the county. The department also benefits from first-rate secretarial and IT support.
The post is ideal for an experienced Dietitian looking to gain experience or further develop in this clinical area, as part of a dynamic and supportive team in a busy district general hospital. The post will focus on the Dietetic care for in-patients with complex medical and social care needs within the frailty and the MFOP pathway, as well as provide development opportunities in other area such as critical care and parenteral nutrition.Come and join our dynamic, proactive team and we will help you grow in skills, knowledge and expertise as you develop your dietetic career.
Main duties of the job
To work as a member of the Nutrition & Dietetic Department, delivering dietetic services across the medicine for older people (MFOP) pathway working across integrated services to achieve improved health outcomes for this patient cohort
To work autonomously, to ensure complex, frail older people's nutritional and hydration needs are met within MFOP in-patient pathways at Stoke Mandeville Hospital
To work autonomously, building excellent communication and handover processes with community services to ensure seamless care for patients moving between acute and community Dietetic services with the MFOP pathway.
Liaising closely with our divisional MFOP team, community dietetics and other therapy services to optimise care and meet devised outcomes.
To promote nutritional screening and management of malnutrition in a timely fashion, to help reduce weight loss and improve outcomes.
To support junior staff and the dietetic support worker, as well as Dietetic students as part of the wider Dietetic team.
