Job summary

We are looking for a passionate Band 6 Speech and Language Therapist to join ourAdditional Resource Provision (ARP) Team working in resource provisions/units/bases within primary and secondary mainstream school settings. This is part of an exciting new development for Buckinghamshire NHS Trustfollowing a recommissioning of our service to deliver services within all ARP's and Pupil Referral Units in Buckinghamshire. We are currently looking at recruiting to a Primary School ARP for Hearing Support.

The SLT Service forms part of an Integrated Children and Young People's Therapies Service working closely with Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy as well as wider children and young people's services. This is a jointly commissioned service across health and education.

Main duties of the job

You will be joining the Speech and Language Therapists in the ARP team, who have a wide range of experience and skills. You will be supporting and shaping the service for children and young people in ARPs and PRUs, as well as supporting your own development. We have a strong commitment to the development of your clinical practice and professional skills.

EXPERIENCE

Essential

  • Clinical experience in a variety of setting
  • Evidence of specialist knowledge/skills resulting from clinical experience and CPD
  • Demonstrates knowledge of specialist SLT assessment tools relevant to the client group
  • Able to demonstrate Deaf awareness and awareness of communication strategies that support communication between deaf and hearing people
  • Minimum 2 years post qualification experience with paediatric caseload which include working with deaf children

EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS & TRAINING

Essential

  • Registered member of the Royal College of Speech And Language Therapists
  • Recognised Speech & Language Therapy degree qualification or equivalent
  • British Sign Language Level 3 (or level 2 working towards level 3)
  • Completion of deafness specific specialist postgraduate short courses (e.g. Working with Deaf People Part 1)

Desirable

  • Attendance of relevant CEN Group
  • Certificate of competence to use the BSL narrative assessment
