Job summary

Freedom to act

Organises own work tasks day to day, practicing in line with Trust policies and procedures at all times, using own initiative when appropriate.

Through the appraisal system, ensures own training needs are identified and mandatory training is kept up to date in conjunction with the Ward Manager.

Will act as an associate link nursing assistant for a particular area of practice and feedback information/developments to colleagues.

Takes part in education and training programmes appropriately.

Working conditions

Ensures that the ward/department is clean by making regular checks and cleaning when required to maintain a high standard and reports findings to senior staff.

Frequently exposed to unpleasant conditions within the clinical areas for example foul linen and bodily fluids.

Exposure to hazardous chemicals.

Main Duties and Key Responsibilities

Communication and relationships

Liaises with members of the team within the ward 9/department, to ensure care is delivered to the patient both effectively and efficiently

Updates registered staff in a timely manner of any deterioration of the patient's clinical condition.

Maintains confidentiality throughout all communication.

Maintains effective communications between patients,

Welcoming patients and their relatives to the ward/department.

supporting and demonstrating 1:1/enhanced care supervision using tact and empathy, supporting communication.

Supports registered nursing staff by carrying out accurate record keeping, always taking and relaying verbal and written messages promptly and respecting confidentiality.

Reports complaints or concerns to the Nurse in charge/shift leader.

Acts as an ambassador/role model for the organisation.

Maintain professional boundaries and working relationships with patients and colleagues.
