Clinical Nurse Specialist - Fracture Liaison Service (FLS)

Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen at Buckinghamshire Healthcare Trust for a band 7 Lead Fracture Liaison Service CNS role.

The Fracture Liaison Service works with patients over the age of 50 who sustained a fragility fracture to identify those who have Osteoporosis and are at a high risk of further fractures, assessing their bone health, and placing these patients on a personalised treatment pathway.

The role involves working alongside multiple specialist teams including Rheumatology, Trauma and Orthopaedics, Orthogeriatric team, Radiology and the inpatient wards. The successful candidate would work closely with patients, primary care teams and specialist services within the Buckinghamshire area to promote bone health and Osteoporosis knowledge.

We are looking for a colleague who enjoys leading the team and developing new skills.

A passion for working in preventative health care and supporting patients to remain fit and active is a must.

Experience working in Trauma and Orthopaedics or Rheumatology would be strongly desirable.

Main duties of the job

Works across acute trust and BOB ICS providing specialist clinical services to a defined patient/group.

Works strategically to influence the development of services both locally and nationally.

Participates in local clinical audits and national collaboration for FLS.

Provides specialist bone health/Osteoporosis education and training for colleagues, students and patients.

Works with the lead clinicians, care group managers and directors, to set and deliver the strategic vision of the services.

Implements policy/national guidance to support the development of the service.

Displays excellent communication and leadership skills.

The postholder would ideally have good Orthopaedic and/or Rheumatology experience.
