This is an exciting opportunity for an individual who is passionate about palliative care. The post holder will work within the Florence Nightingale in patient unit, day hospice and community.
Working closely with other members of the MDT the post holder will manage a caseload of patients with life limiting illness these include cancer, Motor Neurone Disease and other degenerative neurological conditions.
Main duties of the job
As a member of the multidisciplinary palliative care team, to take a lead role in planning, coordinating and delivering the physiotherapy component of the service provided to people with a life limiting conditions.
- Faster and better care of patients with complications of life limiting illnesses (early recognition, better treatment, rapid referral back to specialist oncology team, palliative care team etc.
- Working in conjunction with the multi-professional teams
- To develop and maintain an in depth and up-to-date knowledge base on physiotherapy
- To act as a physiotherapy resource for colleagues both within the service and outside
- To work with the service lead and colleagues to develop and evaluate the service provided.
The post holder will give expert advice and implement patient care in an area which requires specific clinical knowledge, skills and experience. The post holder will work alongside other clinical colleagues in acute medicine (respiratory and MND) to ensure quality of care to the patients is maximised. This will include the development of clinical guidelines & education programmes.
