Job summary

We have an exciting opportunity within the Recovery team at Wycombe for enthusiastic and dynamic nurses or AHPs wanting to develop their critical thinking skills and advanced nursing skills in the provision of excellent perioperative care and patient experience.

The Wycombe General Recovery Units consist of three areas which cover a full variety of specialities such as Plastics, General Surgery including Breast and Vascular, Urology, Gynaecology, ENT and OMFS, Orthopaedic and Spinal surgery. We also cater for Paediatric Surgery in multiple specialities

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be a Registered Nurse or AHP, preferably with previous surgical nursing experience but this is not essential and full training will be given. Be a good communicator and able to work as part of a team and or as a lone practitioner. Be willing to undertake specialist training. The successful candidate will work as part of a team who cover across site working with our Recovery team in Stoke MandevilleWe have a tradition of excellence and our vision is simple, to provide a gold standard in peri-operative practice, and invest in you the people who deliver care. SKILLS, ABILITIES & KNOWLEDGE

Essential

  • Ability to communicate with staff at all levels within and outside the Trust
  • Ability to communicate with patients (and their relatives or carers) who may have some a range of complex health care issues, and a variety of sensory/communication/ physical /mental health /language needs
  • Evidence of excellent interpersonal skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Time Management
  • Ability to meet deadlines
  • Planning and organisation skills

Desirable

  • Sound knowledge of theatre practice and perioperative Issues
  • Working knowledge of the NHS and structures/procedures
  • IT skills

EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS & TRAINING

  • RGN / or ODP with City & Guilds 752, NVQ (ODP) Level 3, or Diploma in Higher Education in Operating department Practice.
