Job summary

We're excited to offer a fixed term role in our Vocational Rehabilitation team, based at Brookside Clinic in Aylesbury within the Community Head Injury Service. The service provides specialist, personalised input for people with neurological diagnoses who require support returning to work or identifying new employment. You will have the opportunity to work as part of a highly experienced multi disciplinary team renowned for their innovative and holistic approach in this specialist field. A culture of learning and development is central to the team, with ample opportunity for you to further enhance skills your skills in this area of neurorehabilitation.

Main duties of the job

To provide specialist Occupational Therapy assessment and intervention for adults who have been referred to the Vocational Rehabilitation service.
To assess the functional, rehabilitation and vocational needs of patients referred to the Vocational Rehabilitation service. This includes working in a variety of locations within the community, including a person's workplace. To manage sensitive issues relating to employment and associated risks in relation to patients return to work.
To manage a caseload of patients with complex needs in the field of neurological rehabilitation, vocational assessment, and vocational rehabilitation. To work as an autonomous practitioner (accessing clinical supervision as required), evidencing high levels of problem solving and clinical reasoning.

Member of the Royal College of Occupational Therapy (RCOT)
Member of the Heath Care Professions Council
Attendance at postgraduate courses in relevant fields

Previous experience working in the NHS
Recent experience of neuro rehabilitation with a range of neurological conditions
Experience of leading family meeting/ case conferences
Knowledge of clinical governance including quality and risk management

Experience working in a community and/or vocational rehabilitation setting
Experience running groups
Experience managing and prioritising own workload
Experience supervising other staff members and occupational therapy students
Experience providing training/ teaching
Ability to work within an interdisciplinary team and contribute to decision making
